Nash 1936-1957 Photo Archive
Throughout its history, Nash remained one of the financially strongest independent auto manufacturers. Although under appreciated by collectors today, Nash was a truly innovative automobile manufacturer, introducing many advances that have been universally adopted today. Among its many innovations were: fresh air heating and ventilating systems (1938); modern unit construction bodies in a low priced mass produced car (1941); the first successful postwar compact car, the Rambler (1950); the first combined air conditioning and heating system, dash mounted (1954); reclining seats (1950); and convertible beds (1936). Sharp black & white photography and authoritative captions tell the story.

Nash-Austin Metropolitan Gold Portfolio 1954-1962
Nash-Austin Metropolitan Gold Portfolio 1954-1962
Nash had wanted to build a small economy car for some time and after several studies in the early 50s Nash Kelvinator Corp. announced that the Austin Motor Co. would build the cars on their behalf. These cars embodied Austin A40 and A30 components in the Nash-designed car of which hardtop and Drophead coupT version were produced. In 1956 the body style was ?Americanized' and the engine changed to the A50 making it more acceptable to the US market. By 1957 it was available to the British market and fitted with the B-series engine. Production came to an end in 1962. This was America's first high quality, well-engineered minicar confirmed by the number that still survive. This is a book of contemporary road tests, new model introductions, specification and technical data, driver's impressions, development, used cars on the road, history. Models covered include: Convertible, CoupT, 1200, 1500.

New Hemi Engines 2003 to Present: How to Build Max Performance
New Hemi Engines 2003 to Present: How to Build Max Performance
With this book, you can transform a New Hemi engine into an even more responsive and faster powerplant. You are able to build the engine that suits all your high-performance needs. The New Hemi engine has an aggressive persona and outstanding performance. Powering the Challenger, Charger, Ram trucks, and other vehicles in the Chrysler lineup, this engine produces at least one horsepower per cubic inch. Unleashed in 2003, it has been offered in 5.7-, 6.1-, 6.2-, and now 6.4-liter displacements. With each successive engine introduction, Chrysler has extracted more performance. And with the launch of the Hellcat and Demon 6.2-liter supercharged engines, Chrysler built the highest horsepower production engines ever made, at 707 hp and 840 hp respectively. This third-generation Hemi carries on a high-performance Chrysler tradition and is considered the most powerful and "buildable" new pushrod V-8 engine on the market today. Mopar engine expert and veteran author Larry Shepard reveals up-to-date modification techniques and products for achieving higher performance. Porting and modifying the stock Hemi heads as well as the best flow characteristics with high lift are revealed. In addition, guidance on aftermarket heads is provided. A supercharger is one of the most cost-effective aftermarket add-ons, and the options and installation are comprehensively covered. Shepard guides you through the art and science of selecting a cam, so you find a cam that meets your airflow needs and performance goals. He details stock and forged crankshafts plus H- and I-beam connecting rods that support the targeted horsepower, so you can choose the best rotating assembly for your engine. In addition, intake manifold and fuel systems, ignition systems, exhaust systems, and more are covered.

Off Road Jeeps: Civilian & Military 1944-1971
Off Road Jeeps: Civilian & Military 1944-1971
In June 1940 the US Quarter-master Corps published requirements for a compact 4x4, quarter-ton truck. Thus the GPW was born and the name shortened to (Jeep?. Comfort was bottom of the heap of design priorities and all fours seats, and the ride, were hard. But the hastily conceived design was inherently right and over 600,000 were made up to 1945 with endless variations. After the war Willys plugged on with the Jeep in civilian CJ-2A form providing cheap, practical transport in austere times. This is a book of contemporary road tests, technical data, model introductions, military details, camouflage painting, operating details, history. Models covered include:- CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-5, M38, CJ-3B, M606, 381A, 28, 29, 606A2, 606A3, 170, 422, 151.

Old Car Detective: Favourite Stories, 1925 to 1965
Old Car Detective: Favourite Stories, 1925 to 1965
In this hilarious collection of old car stories, Canada’s very own "Old Car Detective" Bill Sherk presents 80 of his favourite stories from all 10 provinces, spanning the years from 1925 to 1965. In this book you will meet the man in New Brunswick who chopped the top off his 1927 Whippet sedan in honour of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II; the young fellow from Kingston, Ontario, who thought his 1937 Ford coach looked better with all four fenders taken off; the owner of a 1947 Hudson that burned so much oil he had to wear a snorkel mask while driving it; the father who borrowed his son’s hot-rodded ’53 Monarch (built only in Canada!) and got pulled over by the police for street racing; and the grandmother who moved from England to Canada and drove her Morris Minor on the wrong side of the road. Behind every old car there’s a story waiting to be told, all the way from your grandparents’ Model T Ford to the Mustang you drove in high school. All the stories and photographs in this book are in chronological order from 1925 to 1965, giving you a 40-year journey through Canada’s rich automotive heritage and brought to life by the people who owned and drove the cars of yesteryear – and some still do! PART ONE (1925 to 1942) takes you from the middle of the Roaring Twenties to February 1942, when the Second World War brought automobile production to a halt for three long years. PART TWO (1946 to 1965) takes you through the Baby Boom years when cars driven by Canadians went through many exciting changes in styling and engineering. If you have ever owned (or still own) a car that was built between 1925 and 1965, turn to the last page in this book to see how you can send in your story for Bill Sherk’s next book.

Oldsmobile V-8 Engines: How to Build Max Performance
Oldsmobile V-8 Engines: How to Build Max Performance
The traditional Oldsmobile V-8 powered some of the most memorable cars of the muscle car era, from the 442s of the 1960s and early 1970s to the Trans Ams of the late 1970s. These powerful V-8s were also popular in ski boats. They have found a new lease on life with the recent development of improved aftermarket cylinder heads, aggressive roller camshafts, and electronic fuel injection. Author Bill Trovato is recognized as being one of the most successful Oldsmobile engine experts, and he openly shares all of his proven tricks, tips, and techniques for this venerable power plant. In this revised edition of Oldsmobile V-8 Engines: How to Build Max Performance, he provides additional information for extracting the best performance. In particular, he goes into greater detail on ignition systems and other areas of performance. His many years of winning with the Olds V-8 in heads-up, street-legal cars proves he knows how to extract maximum power from the design without sacrificing durability. A complete review of factory blocks, cranks, heads, and more is teamed with a thorough review of available aftermarket equipment. Whether mild or wild, the important information on cam selection and Olds-specific engine building techniques are all here. Fans of the traditional Olds V-8 will appreciate the level of detail and completeness Trovato brings to the table, and his frank, to-the-point writing style is as efficient and effective as the engines he designs, builds, and races. Anyone considering an Oldsmobile V-8 to power their ride will save time, money, and headaches by following the clear and honest advice offered in Oldsmobile V-8 Engines: How to Build Max Performance. Plenty of full-color photos and step-by-step engine builds showcase exactly how these engines should be built to deliver the most power per dollar.
