Porsche Spyders 1956-1964: Type 550a, RSK, & 718
The great success that Porsche enjoyed with its first 550 Spyders spurred its small but effective racing cadre to a more ambitious design with its 1956 Type 550A. It's stiffer space frame was inside the 550A that Umberto Maglioli drove single-handed to win the 1956 Targa Florio -- Porsches greatest victory yet.
Experiments in 56 with an even smaller racer, the Type 645, ended with a disastrous crash. Not for nothing was it nicknamed "Mickey Mouse". In 1957 Porsche created the immortal RSK, a race and hillclimb winner. The RS60 arrives in 1960 to meet new rules, winning Sebring outright. It evolved into the RS61 and then the Type 718, using the Grand Prix eight-cylinder engine. Races and hillclimbs throughout the world were mastered by these agile silver cars through 1964, depicted in magnificent images from the Ludvigsen Library.

Porsche Spyders Type 550 1953-1956
The pedigree of Porsche as car designers was brilliantly affirmed by its creation of the 550 Spyder competition roadster. See the 550 Spyder in all its variations, from its origins in experimental Porsche models to the amazing and finely crafted one-off specials of Walter Glockler. With its superb four-cam flat-four engine, designed by Ernst Fuhrmann, the 550 became known as a giant-killer for its racing successes on tracks all over the world. As tough as it was handsome, the 550 was winning races years after its official launch at the Paris Salon in 1953. Exclusive photography of the 550 in the Ludvigsen Library shows its engineering, its evolution and in action in races in Europe and North America. This book is must reading for all Porsche enthusiasts.

Porsche Turbo USA: The Racing Cars, A Picture History
Porsche's Turbos, both race and road cars burst upon the motoring scene in 1976. By late 1977 they were making their impact upon the racing scene in the U.S.A., taking over the winning role in IMSA that Porsche's RSR Carrera had held previously. When the GTP car era dawned in IMSA, Porsche-engined Marches held sway until the immortal 962 arrived on the scene in 1984 and dominated the series until Nissan came good in 1988. By the end of the GTP era, in 1993, there were still 962s competing in IMSA GTP racing. Porsche Turbos next appeared in the GTS class of endurance racing in America, their timeless 911-based 930 Turbo S taking over for both works and customer teams. After that, GT-2s and Evos and then GT-1s and GT-1 Evos until, with the advent of the GT-3, the factory turned back to naturally aspirated cars for their customers' teams. Within the pages of this book can be found photographs and descriptions of Porsche's racing turbocars from 1978 to the present, complete with in-depth captioning. These tell the reader just how it was out there, at the major endurance races in America, such as the Daytona 24-Hours and the Sebring 12-Hours. Photographs from other circuits, such as Road Atlanta, Road America, Mid-Ohio and Columbus are also featured.

Porsche: All the Cars
Porsche, the great Stuttgart-based manufacturer, certainly needs no introduction. In over 60 years, it has built unforgettable road and racing cars, which have every right to be part of the fabric of motoring and motor sport history. Their designations may be numbers, but behind each one of them there is a legendary car; the 356, 911, 928 and 959, the 550, 906, 908, 917, 956 and 962 are just some of the cars that make up this first 'virtual gallery'. An assembly of all Porsche's fundamental models in chronological order, their stories told in brief passages complete with their technical and design specifications. A true vademecum that has to be part of every Porsche enthusiast's library.

Porsche: The Engineering Story
When you say Porsche, you say 911 - don't you? Yet the 911 itself is not a car, but a designation covering a range of cars back to the 1960s - a range which has evolved, and which its customers refused to let die, despite the engineering drawbacks of its layout.
Inevitably, this book is partly devoted to the way in which generations of engineers have worked at overcoming those drawbacks. But it is also about a wealth of other engineering programmes, some of which made it to production and others which, for various intriguing reasons, didn't.
From the still-born Volkswagen EA266, through the ill-starred 914 and the front engined 924 and 928, to the modern Cayenne, and much else besides - it is all discussed here.
Over the years, Porsche has developed a reputation for technical innovation and for using cutting-edge technology in its road cars. This book travels chronologically through Porsche's technical history with each chapter starting with a crucial point in the company's evolution.
From Dr. Porsche's preparation of high-powered prototype Beetles for competition purposes, to the technology incorporated in the latest Cayenne and Carrera GT models, as well as the latest 2005-model 911, the reader is taken on a fascinating journey through the Porsche archives, revealing many previously unknown behind-the-scenes details of the company's engineering story.

Porsche: Toys and Miniatures Design Studies and Wind Tunnel Models
From the first 356 to the latest Carrera 4, from scale 1:220 to 1:5, and from the least expensive toy to the most sophisticated kit, the history of Porsche is illustrated by brilliant pictures of model cars. In 356 pages, Ulrich Upietz and Ekkehard Zentgraf not only demonstrate the fascination for model cars but show design studies and wind tunnel models at Porsche's Weissach Research and Development Centre that have never been published before. The appendix contains a "Master List" of approximately 7000 models and is a prerequisite for all admirers of the world famous sports cars from Stuttgart. In Boxed case!
