Jaguar Lightweight E-type: The Autobiography of 4 WPD
Jaguar Lightweight E-type: The Autobiography of 4 WPD
This volume in the Great Cars series outlines in exhaustive detail the history of the most important competition Jaguar E-Type. Run by John Coombs with factory support and driven by some of the best racing drivers of the day, this car took part in the E-Type's first motor race and later became the prototype all-aluminium Lightweight E-Type. The car's post-Coombs racing life is also fully covered, embracing up-and-coming Brian Redman's exploits with it in 1965. Also detailed is its modern-day successes at the Goodwood Revival, where it has twice won the TT Celebration race. The car has been raced by numerous fine drivers, including Dario Franchitti and Emanuele Pirro. In this book author Philip Porter covers this famous E-Type's active life in every detail, using a wide variety of source material, including factory documentation, to explore the car's race-by-race performances and the trials and tribulations of its development and evolution. A fine array of period photographs includes every competition appearance plus a gallery of magnificent modern images that support the meticulously researched text.

Jaguar World Monthly Jaguar XJ6 Series 1-3
Jaguar World Monthly Jaguar XJ6 Series 1-3
Superlatives are often overused in the motoring press to the point where they become meaningless and, when Jaguar launched the XJ6 back in 1968, the new car certainly had vast amounts of praise lavished upon it in print. However, looking back now, it's not hard to see why motoring journalists the world over were wracking their brains for new and inventive ways of saying `fantastic', `great' and `superb'. Quite simply, the XJ6 was a car more than worthy of all the acclaim it received as, with its release, Jaguar moved forward by about a mile the benchmark by which all other executive saloons were judged... and that's not an exaggeration! Originally available with both 2.8- and 4.2-litre versions of the XK engine mated to either three-speed automatic or four-speed manual/overdrive gearboxes, the XJ6's drivetrain was well-proven, as was its suspension setup. But, clothed in a sleek unitary construction body, it was the overall design's inherently high levels of refinement, performance, ride and handling which combined to enable it to blow the opposition away. Of course, although 'right' in 1968, the XJ6 evolved as Jaguar continually strove to keep the car at the head of the executive pack. V12 power was an option from 1972, and revised Series 2 and subsequently Series 3 cars were launched in 1973 and '79 respectively, with production of the latter extending, in V12 form, right through to 1992 ? by then, the first versions had long been considered classics! With such an extensive production history, it will be no surprise to learn that much has been written about Series 1-3 XJs over the years and, here at Jaguar World Monthly, we've certainly amassed a wealth of XJ features and photographs that cover everything from model history, through to buyer's guides, servicing advice, upgrades and much more ? all of which are reproduced here in one essential reference work. In short, if you want to learn more about the Series 1-3 XJs, then there are sure to be many articles contained within this book that will inform, explain, entertain and amuse.

Jaguar XJ-S V12 Ultimate Portfolio 1988-1996
Jaguar XJ-S V12 Ultimate Portfolio 1988-1996
It took several years for the XJ-S to be accepted as a car in its own right rather than as a replacement for the E-type. By the mid-eighties it was a remarkably refined and sophisticated grand tourer, quite clearly differentiated from the saloons whose running gear it shared. It is an uncompromising 2+2 with distinctive styling. During the late eighties and early nineties, both styling and mechanical upgrades, made the car even more desirable. The last of the cars came of the line in 1996. This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, technical and specification data, new model intro's, long terms tests, buying used. Models covered include: XJ-S Brandenburger, Lister, CoupT, Convertible, Automatic, 6-litre, JaguarSport XJR-S.

Jaguar XJ6: Performance Portfolio 1979-1986 (Series 3)
Jaguar XJ6: Performance Portfolio 1979-1986 (Series 3)
Ten years after the launch of the original XJ range in 1968 the Series III was introduced. Three engines were available; the six-cylinder 3.4 and 4.2-lires and the 5.3-litre V12. This was a time when Jaguar's image was at a low point but this was turned round and respect restored within a couple of years. There were range realignments in 1982 and 1983, when the Daimler name was dropped in Europe. The XJ40 replaced the six-cylinder cars in 1986 although the V12 cars remained in production. This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, new model intros, technical data, buyer's guide, buying second hand and long term reports. Models covered include: 4.2, 3.4, 4.2 Automatic, Avon Estate, Daimler Sovereign 4.2, Arden, Jaguar Sovereign 4.2 manual & automatic, Vanden Plas 4.2 manual & automatic, TWR, DMJ, Chasseur.
